The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is the revenue service of the United States federal government. The government agency is a bureau of the Department of the Treasury, and is under the immediate direction of the Commissioner of Internal Revenue, who is appointed to a five-year term by the President of the United States.

California Franchise Tax Board
The California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) collects state personal income tax and corporate income tax of California. It is part of the California Government Operations Agency. The board is composed of the California State Controller, the director of the California Department of Finance, and the chair of the California Board of Equalization.

California State Board of Equalization
The State Board of Equalization (BOE) is a public agency charged with tax administration and fee collection in the state of California in the United States. The BOE is the only publicly elected tax commission in the United States.[2] In June 2017, Governor Jerry Brown signed legislation stripping the Board of most of its powers.
